After disbanding in 2007, Hockey Night's Paul Sprangers and Scott Wells relocated to Philadelphia, where they have started a new band, Free Energy! Sonically similar to Hockey Night, Free Energy's debut full-length is being produced by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, and will be released on his DFA label this winter.

Sprangers recently sat down with the Milwaukee branch of The Onion's A.V. Club before a gig at The Mad Planet.

As previously stated last week, (Dr.) Frank Portman is releasing his second novel "Andromeda Klein" on August 25th, and to celebrate the release date, Frank will be throwing a launch party at 7pm at Cato's Ale House in Oakland! In addition to readings and songs by Frank, stand-up psychic Becky Walsh, and host Beth Lisick, Frank is looking for one of YOU to read a passage from his first book, King Dork, at the party!

On August 25th, Frank Portman, a.k.a Dr. Frank is releasing his second novel "Andromeda Klein"! A follow up to 2006's "King Dork", Frank returns with another young adult character driven story that is sure to be a great read for all ages!

To celebrate the release of "Andromeda Klein", Frank will be having a launch event at Cato's Ale House (3891 Piedmont Ave. Oakland, CA 94611) where he does a lot of his writing. The free event, which starts at 7 PM, will be hosted by Beth Lisick, and will feature a little bit of reading plus an acoustic set from Frank, stand-up psychic Becky Walsh, and possibly others to be announced.

If you can't make it to Cato's on the 25th, Frank will also be doing some readings around the Bay Area later that week.
