Wednesday, 03/17/2010New Lookout Records Website (A Work In Progress)
We are in the process of rebuilding the Lookout Records website. This version of the site has not been functioning properly in some time as it was closely intertwined with the Little Type Mail Order Store which shut down last year. A proper revamp of our site was long overdue anyway and we want to invite you to visit the new site, even while we continue adding stuff and ironing out the kinks. It's a work in progress and there is lots to still do. Right now, you can peruse Lookout Records bands, check out the Lookout Records catalog of releases (with links to purchase), find artist tour dates, and stay up to date on Lookout Records-related news. We'll also be linking to interesting artifacts from the label's history we can find online as well as digging into the archives to post stuff ourselves. Wednesday, 02/10/2010Lots of Tour Dates up! Plus Oranges Band Now On Facebook! Our Tour Page has the full listing of Ted Leo/Rx tour dates for his US tour in support of his new Matador release The Brutalist Bricks. This spring will also see The Oranges Band touring the North East with The Hold Steady before coming home to Washington D.C. and Baltimore for a weekend of 10th Anniversary Shows! To stay up to date with The Oranges Band, you can now follow them on Facebook or Twitter! Monday, 10/12/2009Little Type Mail Order / Lookout! Store Off-LineWe are sad to inform you that our partners in mail order crime, Little Type Mail Order, have officially shut down. We are working on a new store layout and will be back up and running in the coming months, but until then, feel free to read the statement that is up on their page: "As many of you know, our founder, Erika Hynes, passed away last April. We have tried our best to keep Little Type operating since that time, but it has become apparent that without her direction and inspiration, it's just not possible to maintain the level of service and quality that would do justice to Erika's memory.
Gimme Something Better Book Release Events!Gimme Something Better is a brand new book by Jack Boulware and Silke Tudor which collects the oral history of the Bay Area punk scene. In celebration, there will be book release events held across the Bay Area this week. The first event will be held on Monday, October 12th at Broadway Studios (formerly the On Broadway), in cooperation with Litquake 10. Journey to the End of the Bay: Punk Rockers Spill Their Guts, will feature a panel of Bay Area legends telling stories about the good ol' days.
